Laurence “The Sheik” Petre Allen :- Vocals, Guitars.

Legend alleges he progressed from tennis racquet to guitar whilst at school. Interest in guitars and the blues grew through the good intentions and encouragement of his uncle. This led to Liverpool UK bands “Blueprint” and “The Blues Syndicate”. Laurence emigrated to Perth WA and joined “Nacho Mamaz Blues Band”. The moniker of “The Sheik” was bestowed on Laurence in that line up. One studio recording and performances at The National Blues Festival Lithgow NSW and Bridgetown International Blues Festival WA. That band split and “The Tone Doctors” were founded as a prescription for a good time lasting 15 years. After time away from the blues scene, including a spell overseas. Laurence returned home to Perth and a musical acquaintance introduced him to Adam “Careless” Norton. Now we have - please imagine if you will a drum roll and cymbal crash - The Lowdown.

Hank “Thunderstick” Deberitz :- Vocals, Upright & Electric Bass

Born in Oslo, Norway 1965, Hank came to the Blues early by way of a High School teacher with vision and unusual teaching methods, playing John Lee Hooker as soundtrack to his English class..shortly after a close mate handed him a bass guitar, the damage was done.

Since those early, heady days at an Oslo high school, Hank has found himself as part of several seminal Aussie Blues bands since arriving on these shores in 1988..and these days Hank is laying down the lowdown for the LowDown on both Upright and Electric Bass..

On the decades long journey towards The LowDown. Hank has been a member of bands such as Nacho Mamaz, The Vibrolators, Fiona Boyes Fortune Tellers, Ali Penney’s Moneymakers, Perth Blues Club Houseband, Diamond Dave & the DooDaddies, plus many other “fill in” cameos with bands like Rick Steele’s Hot Biscuit Band, Lil’ Fi (QLD), Chris Wilson (VIC)

Hank has also backed numerous international Blues luminaries like Mud Morganfield, Bob Margolin, Jimmy Thackery, Lynwood Slim, Alex Schultz, Kirk Fletcher, Barbara Blue, Molten Mike, Marc Tee, Sue Foley, Eugene ‘Hideaway’ Bridges, Diunna Greenleaf and Big Joe Louis.

In addition to major festivals in Australia, Hank has also appeared at large festivals in Asia & Europe..and now in his 61st year on Earth, its time for Hank to get..LowDown!!
